Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 7, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Smashspeed (“Smashspeed,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you use the Smashspeed mobile application and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Service.

1. What Smashspeed Does

Smashspeed is a badminton training tool that estimates the speed of a smash from video. When you record or select a video, an on-device computer-vision model detects the shuttlecock across video frames and our software calculates an estimated speed. To provide features such as history, syncing across sessions, and your personal bests, videos and the resulting analysis are associated with your account and stored on our cloud infrastructure, as described below. Speed values produced by the Service are estimates, not certified measurements.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

To create and use an account, you may sign in with Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, or an email address and password. Depending on the method you choose, we receive and store a unique account identifier and, where provided, your email address and display name. If you use Sign in with Apple’s “Hide My Email” feature, we receive only the relay email address Apple generates for you.

2.2 Video and Detection Data

When you analyze a smash, the video you record or select, together with the data generated from analyzing it, is uploaded to and stored on our cloud infrastructure and linked to your account. This data may include the video file, the estimated peak speed, per-frame analysis such as timestamps, calculated speeds, the shuttlecock’s position (bounding-box coordinates), the shot angle, and the date and time of the analysis.

2.3 Usage and Activity Data

We store limited activity information tied to your account, such as the number of smashes you have analyzed and the date of your most recent activity, in order to operate features of the Service.

2.4 Subscription and Purchase Information

If you purchase a subscription, the transaction is processed by the app store you purchased through (Apple’s App Store or Google Play), and we use RevenueCat (provided by RevenueCat, Inc.) to manage and validate subscriptions. We do not receive or store your payment-card number or full billing details. We may receive confirmation of your subscription status in order to unlock paid features.

2.5 Device Permissions

The Service requests access to your camera to record smash videos and to your microphone to capture audio as part of those recordings. These permissions are used only for the recording features you initiate, and you can manage or revoke them at any time in your device settings.

2.6 Diagnostic and Crash Data

To keep the app stable and fix problems, we use a crash-reporting tool (Firebase Crashlytics, provided by Google LLC) that automatically collects diagnostic information when the app crashes or encounters an error. This may include a crash stack trace, your device model and operating-system version, the app version, and a randomly generated diagnostic identifier. This information is used solely to diagnose and fix technical issues; it is not used to advertise to you or to identify you personally.

2.7 What We Do Not Collect

We do not serve advertising, we do not use third-party advertising trackers, and we do not sell your personal information. We do not knowingly collect precise geolocation, contacts, or health data.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, operate, and maintain the Service and its core speed-analysis features.
  • To create and manage your account and authenticate you when you sign in.
  • To store and display your videos, analysis results, history, and personal bests.
  • To provide and manage subscriptions and unlock paid features.
  • To respond to your support requests and communicate with you about the Service.
  • To detect, prevent, and address technical issues, abuse, fraud, or violations of our Terms.
  • To improve the accuracy, reliability, and performance of the Service and our detection models.
  • To comply with applicable legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

4. How Your Information Is Stored and Shared

We use Supabase (provided by Supabase, Inc.) for authentication, database storage, and file storage. Your account data, videos, and analysis data are stored on Supabase’s cloud infrastructure on our behalf. We also rely on the following third parties to deliver core functionality:

  • Apple — for Sign in with Apple and for processing App Store subscriptions and purchases.
  • Google — for Google Sign-In, and (via Firebase Crashlytics) for crash and diagnostic reporting to keep the app stable.
  • Supabase — for authentication, database, and file storage.
  • RevenueCat — for managing and validating in-app subscriptions across the App Store and Google Play.

These providers process information according to their own privacy policies. We share information with them only to the extent necessary to operate the Service. We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or where we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Smashspeed, our users, or the public. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

4.1 Leaderboard Submissions and Public Sharing

The leaderboard is an optional feature. If you choose to submit a smash to the leaderboard, the associated video, the calibration line, the measured speed, the country you select, and your public profile (display name and avatar) become visible to other users of the Serviceand to our reviewers, and may be reported by other users so that entries can be verified. This applies only to smashes you deliberately submit — your other videos and analyses remain private to your account and are not shown to other users. You can remove a submitted smash from the leaderboard at any time, which stops it from being displayed going forward, although we cannot control copies that others may have already made while it was public.

5. International Data Transfers

Our service providers may store and process your information in countries other than the one in which you live, including the United States. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions that may have data-protection laws different from those of your country.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information, videos, and analysis data for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide the Service. We may retain certain information where necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and enforce our agreements. When you delete content or your account, we will delete or de-identify the associated data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete your personal information, and to object to certain processing. You can exercise many of these choices directly in the app or your device settings, including revoking camera and microphone permissions and requesting account deletion. To make a privacy request or to ask us to delete your data, contact us at smashspeedai@gmail.com. We will respond to verifiable requests in accordance with applicable law. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction, such as 16 in parts of the European Economic Area), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including the access controls and security features provided by our cloud providers. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after an updated Policy takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the changes.

11. Contact Us
